The Fiber Optic Training course is a comprehensive resource to teach a person to become a competent Fiber Optic tradesperson.

We offer three different levels of training recognition.

  1. Fibre Optic Cabler ACMA Endorsement - ICTCBL3010A - $345 plus Hands on Day $200 plus consumables and equipment hire in some cases.

  2. Advanced Fibre Optic Cabler - ICTCBL3010A and ICTCBL3013C and ICTCBL3065A - $600 plus 3 Hands on Days $600 plus consumables and equipment hire in some cases.

  3. Certified Fibre Optic Technician (CFOT) - FOA Certification plus ICTCBL3010A and ICTCBL3013C and ICTCBL3065A - $780 plus 3 Hands on Days $600 plus consumables and equipment hire in some cases. FOA supervised Test is $55 per attempt, 1st attempt included in price and FOA Membership $100 for 3 years is included in price.
Delivery Method

No matter which level of training you choose you will complete the same theory and varying degrees of hands on training.
  • The Fibre Optic Cabler course has one final test and one day hands on training.
  • The Advanced Fibre Optic Cabler course has 12 theory tests and 3 days hands on training, you will study and sign up for the CFOT course without FOA tests.
  • The CFOT course has 12 tests, 3 days training and FOA tests and membership.

Theory Component
Students must study CCC's online training course and pass 1 Theoretical examination.
Hands on Training
Students must complete 1 day face to face hands on training.

  1. Place optical fibre cable
  2. Secure optical fibre cable
  3. Set up work area for optical fibre joining and/or direct termination
  4. Install optical fibre connectors for direct termination where required
  5. Fusion splice optical fibre cable where required
  6. Join optical fibre mechanically where required
  7. Remove fibre hazards from work area

Advanced Fibre Optic Cabler - ICTCBL3010A and ICTCBL3013A and ICTCBL3065A
Theory Component
Students must study CCC's online training course and pass 12 Theoretical examinations.
Hands on Training
Students must complete 3 days face to face hands on training.

  1. Prepare for splicing
  2. Verify optical fibre cable placement
  3. Secure optical fibre cable
  4. Splice optical fibre cable
  5. Install optical fibre termination connectors
  6. Complete splicing operation
  7. Complete installation administration

Certified Fibre Optic Technician - FOA Certification plus ICTCBL3010A and ICTCBL3013A and ICTCBL3065A
Theory Component
Students must study CCC's online training course and pass 12 Theoretical examinations.

In addition to the online exams students are required to study ""FOA Reference Guide to Fiber Optics"" and pass a supervised written exam based on this book.

The FOA Test is closed book, 100 Questions and has a 70% pass requirement.

Hands on Training

Students must complete 3 days face to face hands on training.

You may apply for RPL but you must be able to provide extensive verified evidence of experience in Fibre Optic installations.
